GHK-Cu is the copper complex of glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine, a naturally occurring tripeptide first isolated from human plasma in 1973. What the Research Shows

GHK-Cu has been documented to stimulate collagen synthesis in dermal fibroblasts at concentrations as low as 1 to 10 nanomolar, modulate matrix metalloproteinase activity to regulate the collagen remodeling cycle, and promote angiogenesis through copper ion-mediated endothelial cell migration. A 2018 review published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (DOI: 10.3390/ijms19071987) documented that GHK-Cu modulates the expression of over 4,000 human genes, roughly 31% of all genes analyzed, across pathways associated with tissue repair, antioxidant defense, and anti-inflammatory signaling.

Human plasma concentrations of GHK decline significantly with age, from approximately 200 nanograms per milliliter in young adults to around 80 nanograms per milliliter by age 60. This age-related decline has driven sustained research interest in GHK-Cu across multiple tissue applications.
